GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Shannon Forgay is legally blind -- but he enjoys photography. He can't drive, but thanks to a camera viewfinder, he can see a little more of the world. For Forgay, being legally blind isn't the biggest issue, finding transportation and housing in rural Rockingham County is. Thanks to Affordable Housing Management of Greensboro, a nonprofit that helps those with disabilities find affordable housing, Forgay was able to find hope, at Hope Court. The apartments are the latest affordable housing made available by the nonprofit. "The demand here for the units was so great, that we decided we needed to do more," said Executive Director David Levy said. Without donations, Levy says the need wouldn't have been able to be filled. |
